INFLUENZA A (H1N1) vaccination campaign: Get vaccinated...and keep informed

December 23, 2009 - The vaccination campaign against influenza A (H1N1) is now in full swing in Quebec. Due to the government’s decision about vaccination sites – a decision we must comply with – the Clinique Santé-voyage de la Fondation du CHUM cannot provide the vaccine to clients. However, the team here at the clinic unanimously recommends the influenza A (H1N1) vaccine, which should be administered according to the instructions and sequences determined by the Institut national de santé publique du Québec.

IF YOU’RE TRAVELLING

The Clinique Santé-voyage de la Fondation du CHUM team sees no reason why Quebecers should change their vacation plans to foreign countries. Here are some recommendations for a safe, healthy trip:

 Before you leave

  1. Make sure to consult a travel health specialist at the Clinique Santé-voyage de la Fondation du CHUM to bring all your vaccinations up to date: 514 890-8332.
  2. Check to see whether any travel reports or warnings have been posted for your destination:

  3. The 2009 seasonal flu vaccine will be available as of January. Watch for news when the vaccine arrives, and protect yourself before your departure, if possible.
  4. The seasonal flu vaccine should be received once a year during the flu season or a few weeks before you leave on vacation.
