Montreal, August 8, 2014 – The World Health Organization (WHO)’s International Health Regulations Emergency Committee declared this morning after a two-day meeting that the Ebola virus disease outbreak represents a ‘’public health emergency of international concern’’. With 1 711 cases and 932 deaths, the epidemic situation keeps getting worst. The committee therefore considers that a ‘’coordinated international response’’ is essential to stop the epidemic and reverse the international spread of the virus.
